Provides direct patient care for a number of assigned patients utilizing the nursing process of planning, implementing, evaluating and revising the plan of care to meet changing patient need.
Demonstrates knowledge and clinical skills appropriate to the area of assignment.
Develops a plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family and other members of the health care team that is consistent with the medical diagnosis of the patient and which evolves to reflect changing physical, psychosocial and age related requirements.
Performs full nursing assessment on all assigned patients on admission and daily according to policy. Documents all assessments, interventions and relevant information in the patient medical record.
Assesses patient educational and discharge planning needs and interacts with relevant personnel and departments to facilitate requirement.
Works with other health care team members in patient care improvement initiatives and activities designed for the improvement of patient care outcomes
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of nursing sensitive patient care indicators especially the required interventions for preventing patient falls, decubitus, infections, medication errors and the use of restraints.
Takes direct and appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations
Identifies and reports defective or broken equipment, safety hazards and environmental hazards.
Maintains stringent levels of asepsis through the demonstration of good infection control practices.
Performs a wide range of nursing functions according to the scope of service of the assigned area including preparation of patients for surgery, preparation of patients for a variety of radiological procedures, cannulation of patients and care of infusions, care of tracheostomies, care of drains, catheters and chest tubes, care of central lines, PICC lines and protocols, care of PEG tubes, decubitus care, medication administration, simpleand complex dressings, moving and lifting patients, vital signs and ECG recording and interpretation and other duties as required.
Assists physicians on patient rounds. Carries out all physician orders in a timely manner.
Completes all assigned task oriented responsibilities such as resuscitation equipment checks, medication refrigerator temperature checks and oxygen cylinder checks, Participates in the routine cleaning and of patient care equipment as per policy.. 14
Assists the Nurse Manager of the unit by willing acceptance of any other work related responsibility.
Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or medical sciences is preferable.
3 years’ experience in Clinical Practice
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English essential.
SCFHS, MOH, Licenses, Life support courses as per Life Support Training Courses policy.
