To transfer or accompany stable, ambulatory patients or stable patients in wheelchairs, between wards and departments with or without an escort based on the decision of the unit manager.
To transfer or transport sick or unstable patients in bed or in wheelchairs between wards and departments in the company of a nurse, physician or both.
To assist with the movement of dependent patients to and from beds, wheelchairs and/or stretchers.
To assist with the movement of medical equipment used during transfer and transportation of patients between floors and units.
To act as a courier for the transportation of specimens, medications, blood, equipment and paperwork and mail and reports and medical records between wards and units as required.
To collect and deliver supplies and materials from storage areas to concerned floors and units.
To assist with completion of discharge paperwork and to escort discharged patients to the car in a wheelchair.
To assist with non-nursing, non-medical basic patient care requirements.
To maintain confidentiality of all patient and hospital related data.
To complete all mandatory in-service training requirements.
