Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assembles and Dispenses pharmacy medications orders under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Performs re-packaging of oral dosage forms for outpatient dispensing, labels the re-packed containers with an appropriate record.
  • Identifies and appropriately handles the nearly expired medications, storage and conditions for drug products, and Maintains necessary record.
  • Maintains inventory control& security of all drugs, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications.
  • Calculates the amount of the drug product to prepare for a prescription
  • Completes properly the patient’s charging procedures.
  • Performs proper storage& handling and preparation of intravenous sterile preparation with observing of sterile aseptic and safe practices at all times.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage& handling of hazardous materials found in her/him workplace, as well as first aid measures necessary for accidental exposure.
  • Arranges the medications' stocks from medical stockroom to maintain an adequate supply of the stocks in the pharmacy.
  • Ensures patient safety and safe medication management are practiced at all times
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of commonly used non-prescription drugs(OTC).
  • Reports to the pharmacy head any discovered medication errors& ADR.
  • Refers to the pharmacist in charge for any related duties when necessary.
  • Enrolls in continuous education program regarding medication management practices, high risk medications, medication errors and others.
  • Performs other job related assignments
  • Inpatient Pharmacy Automation related functions: Coordinates automation maintenance, troubleshooting, and downtime.
  • Serves as first line for troubleshooting and coordinates involvement of vendor technical support. Configures automation stock items for optimal inventory state.
  • Participates in recalls or outdated medication processing, documentation and replacement.
  • Trains and evaluates all pharmacy personnel in the appropriate and efficient use of central pharmacy automation technology with respect to restocking, dispensing and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrates effective methods and initiative to reduce costs and improve automation configuration and workflow.
  • Performs all tasks related to central pharmacy automation operations Manage inventory of Automated Dispensing Cabinets.
  • Monitors access and appropriate use of automation software and hardware.
  • Follow up on Automated Dispensing Cabinets discrepancies needing proper resolution with the appropriate nurse managers.
  • Communicate the status of Pharmacy Automation projects/activities/ issues to pharmacy and nursing staffs.
  • Outpatient Pharmacy Automation related functions: Maintain the stock of the Automated Storage and Retrieval Device in the outpatient pharmacy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education:

    Diploma in pharmacy

    Experience:

    2 years experience with hospital pharmacy setting.

    Language:

    Good command of oral and written Arabic and English communication.

    Required Licenses:

    Must have and maintain a current Saudi pharmacy license
