Duties and Responsibilities:

1.        Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development
2.        Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards
3.        Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records
4.        Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions
5.        Assesses and cares for the normal new-born immediately after birth.
6.        Provides assistance with post-partum care including breastfeeding.
7.        Sets up for deliveries and other procedures, including Emergency C-Sections.
8.        Cleans equipment, forwards same for re-sterilization and helps set up for next case Coordinate with the maintenance of a clean, safe environment.
9.        Assists with patient examination.
10.     After successfully completing relevant competencies may:
Ø  Apply CTG Monitor
Ø  Conduct Phlebotomy
Ø  Conduct IV Cannulation
11.     Provides assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases.
12.     Assists and supports patient during labor and delivery process.
13.     Documents patients' medical and clinical information and health assessments in HIS
14.     Demonstrates skills as per the nursing general and unit specific competencies
15.     Prepares patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments
16.     Provides comprehensive, safe and effective evidence-based nursing & midwifery care to achieve identified health outcomes. Promotes healing environment
17.     Recognizes and upholds the rights of all patients accessing health services and advocate on their behalf while maintaining cultural sensitivity
18.     Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained. Assists in the maintenance of all supplies and equipment and clean-up / re-set up after deliveries and C-Sections.
19.     Provides high level communication skills
20.     Plans and evaluate nursing & midwifery care in consultation with the multidisciplinary health care team and patients and families using effective interpersonal communication
21.     Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
22.     Refers and co-ordinates the patients’ discharge arrangements with the case manager in accordance with DSFH-R
discharge policy
23.     Provide and facilitates appropriate training and ongoing support to students and less experienced health service staff within the delegated scope of practice, as and when required
24.     Directs and supervises less skilled nursing/health care personnel, students and interns and visit patients to ensure that proper care is provided
25.     Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
26.     Performs other QI responsibilities as delegated from time to time by the Nurse Manager
27.     Upholds quality initiatives that improve ‘customer care’ and enhance the interface between staff, patients and visitors
28.     Demonstrates awareness of personal responsibilities in relation to the maintenance of a clean and safe environment and identification of potential risks for all personnel, patients and visitors, taking action as and when required
29.     Shows awareness of the role of the midwife in handling complaints in accordance with Fakeeh care policy
30.     Uses critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making within each step of the care process
31.     Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment by providing the adequate education and engagement to the patient and family
32.     Practices within a professional and ethical framework in accordance with the nursing / midwifery profession’s codes of
ethics and conduct
33.     Accepts individuals/groups regardless of race, culture, religion, age, gender, sexual preference, physical or mental state
34.     Ensures that personal values and attitudes are not imposed on others
35.     Seeks assistance and escalates operational and clinical issues to nursing supervisor to resolve situations when needed
36.     Identifies and attempts to overcome factors which may constrain ethical decisions, in consultation with the health care team
37.     Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
38.     Contributes to annual appraisal and is responsible for own Personal Development Program
39.     Assists in the development and implementation of nursing / midwifery practice guidelines, standards and policies
40.     Assists in the training and development students, trainees, interns and participates in the Transition to Practice
     Programs for fresh graduates  
41.     Participates in shared-governance, decision-making structures and processes that establish standards of practice* and address opportunities for improvement
42.     Promotes continuous, consistent, efficient, and accountable delivery of nursing & midwifery care using Professional Practice
     Model and appropriate care delivery system
43.     Provides Exemplary professional practice evidenced by effective and efficient care services, inter-professional collaboration, and high-quality patient outcomes
44.     Participates in programs related to evidence-based practices and research programs and integrate evidence-based practice and research into clinical and operational processes
45.     Creates partnerships with patients and families to establish goals and plans for delivery of patient-centered care
46.     Participates in recruitment and retention assessment and planning activities
47.     Participates in the review, action planning, and evaluation of patient safety data at the unit level
48.     Disseminates the organization’s nursing research findings to internal and external audiences
49.     Evaluates and use evidence-based findings in their practice.
50.     Participates in the design and implementation of technology to enhance the patient experience and nursing / midwifery practice.
51.     Demonstrates compassionate communication skills while providing support and care to the patients as “the patient is the center of our care

Other Job Functions:

1.       Perform all duties and tasks in line with the Person Centered Care values.
2.       Adherence to all policies, plans and programs within the Fakeeh Care- Riyadh.
3.       Perform duties as per the code of conduct requirement and ethical standards as outlined in the HCM policies and guidelines.
4.       Complete mandatory education as per the requirement at least one month prior to expiration.
5.       Maintain up to date knowledge on information relating to quality and safety, accreditation, policy management and document management systems.
