Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the chemotherapy pharmacists in reviewing, clarifying Doctors chemotherapeutic medications orders and prepare doses, with full compliance with safety and quality practices.
  • Communicates with ordering doctor in case of any ambiguity or concern.
  • Prepare the verified medications, review of proper labeling for the prepared medications and then dispenses.
  • Follows all medication safety procedures when dispensing medications
  • Maintains control & security of all drugs including dispensing, record keeping and secured storage of chemotherapeutic medications.
  • Identifies and appropriately handles the nearly expired medications according to hospital policies and NEVER dispenses a medication beyond its expiry date.
  • Participate in the intravenous admixture preparations program, mixing and checking including total parenteral nutrition.
  • Ensures full alignment and compliance of pharmaceutical services at DSFH Hospital with All relevant Fakeeh care policies and procedures, with Fakeeh care strategic priorities, with Saudi FDA MOH rules and regulations, with licensing requirements, and with accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage & handling of hazardous materials found in her/him workplace, as well as first aid measures necessary for accidental exposure
  • Demonstrates knowledge & skills in utilizing formulary, identifications of generic substitution, indication of the role of deductible limits and application of prescription quantity limitations
  • Practices and fully complies with current infection prevention and control standards when handling medications and preparing IV AND Chemotherapeutic formulas
  • Contributes to training and induction orientation for newly hired pharmacists and students and trainees.
  • Reports to the senior pharmacists and enters on OVR any encountered medication error or ADR.
  • Attends continuing education programs to maintain expertise in Pharmacy and required licensure.
  • Always complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensures Enrollment in continuous education program regarding medication management practices , high risk Medications, medication errors and others.
  • Assists DSFH Hospital director of pharmaceutical services and Directors of ambulatory centers in ensuring pharmacies readiness to accreditation and regulatory bodies surveys
  • Demonstrates compassionate communication skills while providing support and care to the patients, as “the patient is the center of our care”.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree of Pharmacy, Pharm D is preferred.

    Experience:

    1-2 Years

    Language:

    Good command of oral and written Arabic and English communication. Required Licenses: Must have and maintain a current Saudi pharmacy license
